20,000 jobs up for grabs at fair

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 20,000 vacancies in 650 companies are on offer in the biggest job fair in the country.

Around 300,000 young job seekers are expected to attend the BN Youth Job Fair 2011 which will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre from March 25 to 27.

“The fair will just be about jobs – no politicking. One of the top priorities among the young are jobs. We want to serve this need,” Barisan Nasional youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin told The Star yesterday.

With the theme Enhancing Employment, the event showcases job opportunities inside and outside Malaysia.

“We have a plethora of companies from GLCs as well as small and medium enterprises seeking to capture young Malaysian talent to join their workforce,” he said.

Khairy said that value-added events such as career talks and internship recruitment drives would also be held.

“This is a good opportunity for fresh graduates and young working adults seeking to switch jobs to survey the thousands of opportunities available at the fair,” he added.

So far, 27,000 have registered and uploaded their CVs on the fair’s website www.bnyouthjobfair.com.

The fair will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on March 25. It is open from 10am to 8pm over three days.
