One-stop career solutions at myStarjob

KUALA LUMPUR: The myStarjob recruitment service has been revamped and will now include a 12-page weekly Career Guide to help employers and potential employees match talent and jobs that best suit their needs.

The Career Guide would be available in The Star newspaper and online beginning this weekend.

The new myStarjob service, which was launched yesterday, also includes a revamped portal (mystarjob.com), the Visume (video resume) service and training to enable employers to recruit, develop and retain talent, among others.

Said to be the first in Malaysia, the video resume function would enable job seekers to post a visume online when applying for posts and help recruiters conduct a “live” interview with potential employees.

Star Publications (M) Bhd group managing director and chief executive officer Ho Kay Tat said the revamped service, which was a perfect marriage of the digital, print and online solution, was in line with the changing job recruitment landscape and the need for new rules of engagement, especially when connecting with a new generation of career seekers.

“The rules of engagement have changed. We want our young talents to do what they love, and our message to employers like ourselves is that we must make talents love what we do, for if they love what we do, they will come to us,” he said at the launch of the myStarjob and seminar entitled “Closing the Talent Gap: The New Rules of Engagement”, here yesterday. Also present was Star Publications executive deputy chairman Datuk Vincent Lee.

Ho said talent shortage was often associated with the mismatch between the available skilled force and employers' requirement, adding that many young graduates did not obtain jobs they were trained for.

myStarjob could help position organisations as an “employer of choice” and establish a new dimension of interaction, engagement and connectivity with the best talents both in and out of the country, he added.

“With the Visume, lifeless resumes can now come to life as talents are able to let their personalities shine with this service and recruiters are able to better assess the talent in a more holistic fashion.

“With all these new features in place, we are confident that the brand-new myStarjob in print and online will be an effective one-stop resource hub for career builders and promising talents as well as for companies wanting to hire the best and the brightest,” he said, adding that The Star media group first introduced the recruitment portal in 2010.

Training services would be provided by myStarjob, in partnership with Leaderonomics Sdn Bhd, one of the subsidiaries of Star Publications.
