Job Description

To provide strategic plan and direction to UM Specialist Centre (UMSC) and position it as an exclusive private hospital in the region through excellence in clinical operations and service delivery and to meet expectations set by the shareholders and stakeholders.
1. Able to meet UMSC Board set financial targets.
2. Alignment of corporate values and leadership; organisation-wide talent development & succession planning.
3. Robust performance management that covers Operational Excellence, Financial targets with strong strategic marketing, corporate communications and partnership with Doctors and appropriate stakeholders'/business partners.
4. Define and implement robust clinical governance structures and systems that encompass evidence-based medicine, diagnostic & treatment protocols.
5. Robust risk management structure; compliance with statutory and accreditation requirements/standards.
6. Foster effective working relationships and rapport with key industry players and service providers to keep abreast with latest development to capture new business opportunities. This includes major business partners UMMC, Faculties of Medicine (FOM) and Dentistry (FOD) and stake holders (i.e. Ministries of Health, Higher Education and Finance).
7. Drive the development of competent working team that will enhance and sustain staff capabilities in achieving high performance delivery to ensure internalization of the right leadership and capabilities in executing their jobs.
8. Able to achieve high work performance by using appropriate tools and methodologies to promote corporate governances for operational excellence.
1. 15 years' experience in private hospital sector with operational knowledge of financials, HIT, business planning and medical technologies.
2. Business acumen in business development, planning, budgeting with clinical background would be highly advantageous in relation to Healthcare Industry; Doctors, clinical procedures & technologies.
3. Requires evidence of leadership ability and demonstration of successful leadership roles.
4. Must demonstrate strong leadership with ability to implement human resource planning (HRA using known approaches such as MRA or RRA in previous work).
5. Able to show detailed and honest business portfolio of previously conducted business ventures and outcomes.

UM Specialist Centre (UMSC) is a tertiary medical centre. It has been in existence since 1998. It was initially established as an initiative by University of Malaya and the Faculty of Medicine to halt the brain drain of medical experts from public sector to the private. Today UMSC consist of over 240 experts across all specialities.
