Job Description

UNDSS (United Nations Department of Safety and Security) Office in Putrajaya is inviting suitably qualified Malaysian nationals to apply for the position of Local Security Associate. The position is locally administered by UNDP but is financed centrally by UNDSS. The Local Security Associate is responsible for assisting the UNDSS Security Adviser (SA) for Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam in all matters relating to the safety and security of the UN and its staff in the region of assignment. The Local Security Associate must have updated knowledge and understanding of all relevant safety and security issues of interest to the UN and its staff in the region and able to build up and maintain an abundant awareness regarding global UNDSS policies, practices and apply them in the region of assignment. Recruitment Qualifications, skills and working experience sought: • Completed secondary school. University degree is desirable (not a requirement). • Six (6) years of experience working in security, preferably in the military or police context or related field of work. • Experience in diplomatic security and protection is considered as an asset. • Solid computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. • Experience in finance and administrative process is desirable. • Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable. • Full working knowledge and fluency of English are required. Fluency in the national language of the duty station and Bahasa Malaysia is required. • Possess a valid driver's license and ability to travel and drive. • Physically fit.
