Job Description

1) Trade Promotion and Business Support: Offer assistance to Ugandan companies hoping to export to Malaysia and the accredited countries. This assistance will involve collecting relevant business information, identifying trade opportunities, and responding to trade-related inquiries.

2) Research and Reporting: Undertake research and prepare reports on the countries of Accreditation economic conditions, market trends, trade laws, and government policies related to trade, and foreign investment.

3) Assist with Event and Mission Coordination: Organise and handle logistics
for trade promotion events, seminars, networking opportunities, business missions, and participation at trade fairs, and expos.

4) Liaison and Communication: Serve as a point of contact with local businesses, chambers of commerce, trade associations, and Host government officials.

5) Provide Documentation and Translation: Manage commercial offers, official correspondence, and other documentation. This often includes translating documents, news articles, and other business information. 

6) Offer Administrative Support: This will include performing general administrative, and clerical tasks for the commercial section, such as managing records, updating databases, accounting, and supporting commercial officers or specialists.

7) Advocacy Support: You will work with senior staff to provide advice and advocacy support for home-country businesses competing for major projects or sales in Malaysia and accredited countries.

8) Additional Duties: Any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Mission from time to time. In essence, as the trade and commercial assistant, you will offer key support services that enable the High Commission’s trade section to effectively facilitate and grow bilateral commercial relationships.

Requirements:
1) Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Economics, Marketing or a related field. Knowledge of Accounts is an advantage.
2) 1-2 years of experience in similar roles.
3) Proficiency in social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook), I.T skills, and marketing analytics tools.
4) Knowledge of international trade, investment, ASEAN foreign trade laws, with particular emphasis on Africa.
5) Knowledge of the English language, in addition to languages spoken in the ASEAN region is an advantage.
6) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7) Strong organizational and time-management skills.
